Outside of Boring, Oregon the Bushue family has created a beautiful haven where many local families have made wonderful memories. The Bushue Family Farm is a Pre-Halloween tradition for many, my family included. Being a coveted source for plant starters, u-pick veggies and flowers throughout the year, our annual trip to the pumpkin patch heralds the end of the season.
When April rolls around I can’t help but get a little giddy knowing that gardening, farmer’s markets, and the abundance of fresh produce is just around the corner.
Bushue farms is happy to start off the season with one of the first local open air markets of the year: A Taste of Local. On April 28th from 10am to 4pm they will host local artisans with various offerings including wines, soap, honey, beef, coffee, lavender, and tea of course. There’s no way we’re missing out! Rain or shine, there are wines to be sampled and vegetables starters to be purchased.
Even if you just pop by for free samples and music it is well worth it to celebrate the start of a new growing season. We live in an area that produces an incredible bounty… what’s not to celebrate? We would love to hear from you: what is your favorite thing about this time of year?
Can’t make it to A Taste of Local but still want to support The Bushue Farm? Starting in May they are open to the public every day except Monday and Tuesday. They are also currently selling tickets to their Mother’s Day brunch on May 13th.
Best wishes and happy sipping.
